This 8" Neptunian action figure is from the Star Trek line of aliens produced by Mego as part of their 8-inch line of Star Trek action figures.
Of the eight alien figures produced by Mego for their Star Trek line, the Neptunian is the only one that has no real basis for being an actual character anywhere in the Star Trek universe. In other words, the Neptunian character was created entirely by Mego.
Mego Star Trek Neptunian Action Figure Head Sculpt
The Mego 8-inch Neptunian figure has a unique head sculpt which is over-sized as compared to other Mego head sculpts. As a result, the clear plastic tray of the Mego packaging needed to be larger in order to accommodate the Star Trek Neptunian's over-sized head.
8-Inch Mego Neptunian Outfit Design
The Neptunian figure comes clad in a one-piece bodysuit primarily covered in fish-like scales along the arms and legs. The green material used for the fish-like scales is identical to the one used for both the 8-inch Mego Green Goblin action figure and the 8-inch Mego Lizard action figure. The torso and groin are "covered" by a red mid-section.
Stitched-in between the the arms and torso of the bodysuit are the Neptunian's green wings.
The 8-inch Star Trek Neptunian has a unique and removable pair of green boots & gloves sculpted out of stiff plastic. unlike other Mego figures who are meant to actually look like they're wearing gloves and boots, the Neptunian's "gloves" and "boots" are really intended to be his fish-like hands and feet.
Star Trek Neptunian Figure Body-Type
The Mego Neptunian 8-inch action figure utilizes a Type 2 male body cast in a deep green plastic. His unique green color tells us that the Neptunian shares his Type 2 body with another green Mego figure – the 8-inch Mego Green Goblin action figure.
Like all standard Type 2 Mego bodies, the Neptunian has 14-points of articulation which include neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, groin, knees, and ankles.
Mego 8-Inch Star Trek Neptunian Variations
The only known variations to the Mego Neptunian are with regards to the packaging and not the figure itself. The first version of the Star Trek Neptuniancomes with rear packaging artwork showing the faces of ten Star Trek characters along with eight additional Mego Star Trek toy products.
The second version of the 8-inch Neptunian shows fourteen Star Trek characters and only four additional Mego Star Trek toys.
