He is Bane. He knows no other name. Born into captivity, the child who would become Bane was fated to fulfill his father's life sentence inside the wretched walls of Santa Prisca's Pena Duro prison fortress. Survival for Bane resided in meditation and smuggled books, which his starving mind devoured as his body grew strong on the rats trapped with him in the dreaded Cavidad Obscuro, a dank solitary cell below sea-level. Freedom lay in "Venom," an experimental steroid that granted the already formidable Bane the raging strength necessary to liberate himself from Pena Duro. Victory, however, could only be found in Gotham City, where Bane would gain infamy as the man who succeeded above all others in breaking the Bat!
