This 8" Gorn action figure from the original Star Trek television series was produced by Mego as part of their 8-inch line of Star Trek action figures.
The Gorn alien action figure is based on the appearance of the Gorn character from the Star Trek television series who appeared on the episode titled "Arena."
Around 2008, Diamond Select Toys produced a STAR TREK 8-inch scale repro GORN action figure which much more closely resembled the character as he appeared on the original 1960's television series.
Mego Star Trek Gorn Figure Head Sculpt
This Gorn Star Trek alien can be considered the Frankenstein Monster of Megos. Absolutely every piece of the eight-inch Gorn figure has been taken from previously released Mego action figures.
Starting with the head sculpt, Gorn borrows his design from a Mego World's Greatest Super-Heroes Lizard action figure. The only difference is that Mego cast Gorn in brown plastic where the Spider-Man villain, The Lizard, was cast in green.
Eight-Inch Mego Gorn Figure Body
Gorn's body is the same one used for both the Planet of the Apes 8-inch Soldier Ape and the World's Greatest Super-Heroes Falcon action figure.
Mego Gorn Action Figure Outfit
Mego Star Trek fans already know that Gorn's outfit and accessories are the same ones used for the earlier 8-inch Star Trek Klingon figure.
Like the Klingon figure from Mego, the Gorn action figure comes clad in brown tights and a vinyl and brown-fabric tunic which is very similar to the outfits worn by the Mego Soldier Apes from the Planet of the Apes series. Gorn's tunic is detailed with two brass-type beads. Again, identical to the Klingon figure.
The tights utilize an elastic band in the waistline. The Tunic utilizes two snaps on the rearside which are attached along the spine of the Gorn figure.
Again, just like the Mego Klingon figure, Gorn also has removable black knee-high boots.
The 8-inch Star Trek Klingon figure includes the same removable black utility belt and detachable red phaser & red communicator as the Klingon. The aliens from this series have the same accessories that come with the Star Trek crew except that they're molded in different colors.
Mego 8-Inch Gorn Figure Variants
Gorn can been found with three distinct variations of the tunic. The first known version of the Mego Gorn figure was manufactured using a more creamy-maroon colored vinyl on the exterior with a red interior lining. A second Gorn figure has a tunic which utilizes a more brownish-maroon vinyl on the exterior with the same red interior lining as the first version.
A third version of the Gorn figure utilizes a tunic manufactured with a more creamy-maroon vinyl on the outside and a brownish-gray interior lining.
