This 8" scale Keeper action figure from the original Star Trek television series was produced by Mego as part of their 8-inch line of Star Trek action figures. Diamond Select Toys produced a faitfhul reproduction of the Mego 8-Inch Star Trek KEEPER figure around 2008.
The 8-inch Mego Keeper action figure is actually a mix of two characters who appeared on the original Star Trek television series.
The Mego Keeper figure takes its name from the Talosian named the Keeper who appeared in the episode "The Cage" which was later recycled as "The Menagerie". However, the Keeper's headsculpt and uniform clearly resemble Balok's viewscreen puppet from the Star Trek episode "The Corbomite Manuever" and more commonly seen in the closing credits of the show.
Mego Star Trek Keeper Outfit and Sculpt
The Mego Keeper figure comes on a standard Type 2 male body except that it's cast in powder-blue instead of flesh colored. This powder-blue type 2 body is identical to and shared with the Mego 8-inch Star Trek alien the Andorian. The Mego Keeper action figure has the standard 14-points of articulation (neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, groin, knees, and ankles).
The Mego Keeper action figure comes clad in a long white robe with a large collar. The Keeper's sleeves, collar, and hem are all trimmed in orange detail.
Mego Star Trek Keeper Variants
The orange detail of the Keeper's robe can be found in two very slightly different shades of orange (light and dark). However, it's very difficult to know which is which version of the Keeper's outfit without actually having a sample of each one to compare to the other.
