Back Story of the Famous Cover Series Gambit Figure
Onetime thief Remy Lebeau seeks atonement for the sins of his past by risking all as a member of the Uncanny X-Men. The Cajun code-named Gambit uses his mutant power to charge any object with explosive kinetic energy, along with his incredible acrobatic skills and fighting ability to battle with the forces of evil.
Presented here, as he appeared in the first issue of his ongoing series, Gambit #1, Gambit wears the costume that he has made famous. In a story entitled "The Man of Steal" the suave mutant must steal a mysterious artifact hidden inside a tomb to pay back a debt he owes to the mysterious "new son". The tomb is rumored to contain the technological secrets of an ancient alien spacecraft. Remy's mission brings him into conflict with the X-Cutioner, a man who dons the technological equipment of the X-Men's greatest foes and uses them to execute any mutant suspected of being a danger to society, who also wants the artifact. After being tracked by the X-Cutioner's paste-blasting weapon, Gambit defeats him by charging up a piece of chewing gum in his mouth and spending it at his opponent with explosive results.
