Back Story of the Famous Cover Series Scarlet Witch Figure

Presented here as she appeared in Avengers #185 is Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch. In a story titled "The Yesterday Quest", the mutant with the probability altering hex power goes searching with her twin brother Pietro. For many years the duo believed their parents to be the Whizzer and Miss America, super heroes of a past generation, but they're adopted father Django Maximoff told them a conflicting story. One night, the Scarlet Witch is awakened by Modred the Mystic who tells her that he has the answers to her riddles. The magician then takes her to Wundagore mountain where he suddenly strikes her down when her back is turned. This story is concluded in the following issue where theylearn the truth. A pregnant woman named Magda arrived at Wundagore mountain seeking sanctuary. She was greeted by a cow-woman created by the High Evolutionary named Bova. Magda told Bova that her husband has strange powers and abilities that he wanted to use to rule the world. She later gave birth to twins. The High Evolutionary then summoned a visiting couple, Robert and Madeline Frank who were themselves expecting a child to take the newborns. But after Madeline gave birth to a stillborn child and passed away, Robert Frank fled due to his grief. It was then that the High Evolutionary placed the babies in the care of Egyptian gypsy couple, the Maximoffs, who had recently lost their own children. Years later fans were shocked when the identity of the children's mysterious father was revealed to be the mutant megalomaniac known as Magneto.
