Samuel L. Jackson's Role in Avengers 2
Samuel L. Jackson has indicated that his Avengers character, Nick Fury, will have minimal air time in the much anticipated Avengers sequel which is slated for release in theaters May 2, 2015.
In a recent Yahoo interview, Jackson was quoted as saying the following:
“I’m just kind of passing by there. I’m not really doing so much, I don’t think. Because it’s another one of those ‘people who have powers fighting people who have powers.’ That’s why I didn’t get to New York during ‘The Avengers,’ because there wouldn’t be a lot I could do besides shoot a gun. So, there’s no need in having me there.”
Jackson should consider the fact that Natasha Rominov (a.k.a. The Black Widow played by Scarlet Johansen) also has no powers. For that matter, neither does the Avengers archer Hawkeye played by actor Jeremy Renner). Hell... I'd much prefer to use a gun over a bow & arrow against someone with super-powers, but that's just me.
More than a year before his reduced role in Avengers 2, you can catch Jackson as Nick Fury on April 4th in the brand new Captain America sequel, The Winter Solider.
Nick Fury 2 and Avengers 2
Is the Nick Fury character integral to subsequent Avengers movies or is it okay to reduce his role and allow Captain America to step up and lead the team?
