First Photos of Ben Affleck as Batman in Zack Snyder's Upcoming Batman versus Superman Film
The first image of Ben Affleck wearing his Batman uniform has been released on the internet. Keeping in step with the texture of the recent Man of Steel film, the latest version of Batman appears to be as gritty if not more gritty than Chris Nolan's recent Dark Knight trilogy.
Zack Snyder takes a Cue from Frank Miller
This latest version of Batman's outfit seems to be positioning Ben Affleck's Batman to be reminiscent of Frank Miller's Dark Knight series. This would make sense since Affleck is now 41. Miller's Batman portrayed an older more vengeful version of the hero abandoning any color for a dull gray & black bodysuit. Miller also illustrated Batman's body and muscles as much thicker and broader than is typically seen in DC Comics.
Ben Affleck certainly has a good strong jawline for the role, possibly the best jaw to date. Again, taking a lead from Miller's designs, Batman's cowl has short ears, which is very different from some of the longer ears we've seen in recent years on Batman costume designs. (continued below)
Zack Snyder's Batman appears to be colored in a very gray and gritty suit with a slightly darker cape and cowl. Subsequent images will tell more.
Behind Affleck/Batman you can make out what appears to be the latest version of the Batmobile. This Batmobile looks to be a hybrid of the tumbler version seen in the recent Dark Knight trilogy starring Christian Bale and the more traditional vehicles seen in earlier Batman films.
If you're a fan of the latest Batman films or Frank Miller's Batman, it's hard to be disappointed by what we're seeing. If you were hoping for a spandex Batman with blue and yellow accents, you're probably going to be disappointed.
