8-Inch Retro Action Shazam! Figure from Mattel

With one magic word... SHAZAM! From DC comics and Mattel comes the world's mightiest mortal, The Original Captain Marvel. This 8" retro-action figure produced in the style of Mego figures, features a highly detailed removable cloth costume.

Seen here in his classic "Big Red Cheese" outfit, SHAZAM is clad in a red bodysuit with gold accents. The suit features a white vinyl cape with printed gold edge and gold neck-brace.

Captain Marvel and Black Adam action figures from this series share a lot of the same apparel. For one thing, the large gold lightening bold is identical to each of them. The decal has been permanently adhered across Shazam 's chest.

Also similar to Black Adam are the gold wristbands and belt which are made from a thin metallic material. The belt is twice stitched-in at the waisteline while the armbands utilize three rows of gold stitching to really enhance their appearance.

Another item that SHAZAM shares with his nemesis Black Adam is their gold pirate boots with painted black stitching. For each figure these boots are identical.

Head Sculpt of the Mattel Shazam! Action FIgure

Mattel gave SHAZAM a very easy-going expression with full smile, similar to how he's commonly seen in his comic books. Like many of the other Mattel DC retro-action head sculpts, though, this one falls a little short. SHAZAM suffers from looking a little too much like someone down the street who you may actually know and not enough like a heroic character out of a comic book.
