8-Inch Retro Action Flash Figure from Mattel
Mattel and DC Comics present this fully articulated 8" Flash action figure with removable fabric costume.
Since Mego never actually produced a Flash figure (they only produced a Kid-Flash figure for their 7" Teen Titans series), Mattel's retro-action Flash is an extremely welcome character.
New Flash Suit vs. Old
Which uniform do you prefer for The Flash?UNIFORM
The one-piece red bodysuit is a very simple design (as it should be).The only noteable feature would be the turtleneck-type neckline.
A decal of Flash's iconic lightening bolt over a white circle is neatly placed on his chest. Additionally, yellow decals of lighting bolts circle each of Flash's forearms and waist.
The Mattel Flash figure has removable yellow boots with lighting emblems on the outer side of each. The boots have a very evident amount of tread as has become typical in the way the character is drawn in recent years.
HEAD SCULPT
The head sculpt for this Flash action figure is actually not bad especially considering how awful it might have been when you look at some of the other head sculpts in the Mattel retro-action series. His expression is very easy-going with a slight smile and dimples -- very typical of the character we've come to know through the comic books and animated shows. Overall, the expression and features seem to capture the essence of the Flash really well.
The lightening emblems near the ears are a little bulky but should be forgiven for a figure of this low retail price. These emblems can be very delicate when they're made to look very sleek and streamlined. Obtaining that look and making them durable would be very costly.
