Mego Planet of the Apes Eight-Inch Alan Verdon Figure
Mego presents this Alan Verdon 8" Planet of the Apes figure.
There's a lot of confusion about the correct spelling of Verdon's name. Officially it's spelled with an "i" (i.e. Virdon), but Mego misspelled it on the packaging with an "e" (i.e. Verdon).
8-Inch Scale Alan Virdon Planet of the Apes Figure Head Sculpt
The 8-inch scale Alan Virdon action figure from Mego is based on the likeness of actor Ron Harper who played the character on the short-lived Planet of the Apes television series.
The head sculpt for this Alan Verdon action figure is a great representation of Ron Harper. The Alan Verdon head sculpt was later slightly modified by eliminating the hair and replacing it with a hood in order to reuse if for the Mego Star Trek Cheron figure.
Mego Eight-Inch Alan Verdon Planet of the Apes Figure Outfit
The Alan Verdon astronaut figure is not clad in an astronaut's outfit at all. Instead, he's seen wearing an outfit more like the rags that were worn on the series once Alan Virdon and Peter Burke were trying to blend in with other humans.
Alan Verdon wears a pair of light colored orange terrycloth pants and matching shirt. Over the shirt is a stitched brown cloth vest.
Virdon's terrycloth pants are the same ones that can be found on the Mego Peter Burke figure from this same series.
Peter Burke and Alan Virdon also wear the same brown or burgundy moccasins worn by both Cornelius and Galen.
The Mego Alan Verdon action figure was released on both Type 1 and Type 2 bodies. The Planet of the Apes Alan Verdon action figure can be found packaged in a boxed version as well as a carded one.
