The Mego 8" Catwoman figure was first released in 1974 as part of the Mego Super-Gals Series which also included Supergirl, Wonder Woman, and Batgirl.
The Super-Gals series was, of course, part of the successful Mego World's Greatest Super-Heroes line of action figures.
Naturally, Mego based their Catwoman figure on the version of the character which was popular during that era in Batman comics. Historically, this is one of the less enduring versions of Catwoman.
There were several variations of Mego's Catwoman outfit.
Catwoman has medium-length, dark rooted hair. The irises of her eyes are orange giving her a very catlike appearance. She's wearing a red mask which does little to cover her thin and evilly arching eyebrows.
Her one-piece body suit has a perriwinkle mid-section with blue stitching. The arms and legs use a flesh tone fabric and attach to the mid-section of the bodysuit.
The neckline has a large collar made from a fabric similar to the one used for the capes of Mego figures like Superman, Batman, Robin, Shazam, and Batgirl. This is the same fabric that tends to fray over time even when handled carefully.
A padded or stuffed catlike tail hangs from the rear of the bodysuit.
Catwoman has a modified version of the oven mitt gloves previously used on Mego figures like Batman, Robin, and Aquaman. Her blue gloves are significantly longer than previous oven mitts, going up well past her elbows.
A brand new boot was molded exclusively for Mego's Catwoman figure. This was necessary since the male boots from the Mego World's Greatest Super-Heroes were simply too big to stay on the female figures. Catwoman's boots have a pirate style to them and they cut-off below the knee. While the material itself is different from the gloves, the color is similar.
There is a second version of Catwoman's outfit which eliminates the boots and gloves and the entire bodysuit is silkscreen printed. The mid-section of the bodysuit is a blue similar to the aforementioned gloves and boots. In this case, the printed boots are the same color blue but are capped off near the knees with an orange band.
The bodysuit between the boots and hips which was previously flesh-colored is now a cyan or skyblue giving the feel of Catwoman wearing colored pantyhose.
The arms of the bodysuit from the wrists to above the elbow are printed in the same dark blue as the mid-section. The figure's hands are flesh colored and bare in this instance.
